In Achila, many of them also stayed and remained and the people around called them “Kastila”. As time went by, the Spaniards vacated this place leaving the name Kastila. But many people around pronounced the name Kastila as Achila. Later on, and up to the present, it was pronounced as Achila. At that time Achila was still a sitio of Camambugan. In 1968, residents of wanted Achila to be a separate barrio. In the earlier months, the people selected an officer-in-charge as their leader and in November 15 of the same year, elections were held and the people of Achila elected their first barrio captain. Thus, barangay Achila was created and separated from its mother barangay.
